Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the Army College of Medical sciences comprises of 10 surgeons and 15 residents. The department boasts of a highly-skilled and passionate faculty responsible for providing surgical teaching to all medical students. The strength of the department lies in the breadth and depth of clinical expertise within the faculty members and a tireless dedication to a structured academic programme.

Academics

To introduce the young minds of the undergraduates to the subject and art of Surgery. To impart surgical knowledge of the highest standard in a stimulating environment of classrooms, bed-side clinics and practical exposure in the operation theatre. To train and motivate undergraduates to become outstanding surgeons with good academic ability and understanding of surgical skills and importance of team work.

Training

Undergraduates are posted for internship training for a period of 02 months. In the training they are imparted bed side knowledge of pre and post op patient care and hands on training of basic surgical procedures under guidance eg suturing, incision and drainage, wound management and dressings. They are also trained to perform basic surgical procedures under strict asepsis in operation theatres.
