Surgery

The Department of Surgery in Army College of Medical Sciences comprises of 12 surgeons and 15 residents including super specialists in Gastrosurgery, Neurosurgery & Urosurgery. The department boasts of highly-skilled and passionate faculty updated with latest teaching methodologies and curriculum along with state of the art surgical skills lab as per NMC guidelines. The Department's hard work is reflected in ACMS giving University toppers in Surgery (at MBBS level) for the past 2 years continuously in addition to excellent overall result in UG exams over the years.The strength of the department lies in the depth of clinical expertise, research orientation (several articles published), expertise of faculty and their tireless dedication toward teaching as per latest CBME guidelines.

ACADEMICS

To introduce the young minds of the undergraduates to the subject and art of surgery. To impart surgical knowledge of the highest standard in a stimulating environment of classrooms, bed-side clinics, practical exposure in the operation theatre, learner-doctor model of learning and research orientation. To train and motivate undergraduates to become outstanding surgeons with good academic ability and understanding of surgical skills and importance of team work.

TRAINING

Undergraduates are posted for internship training for a period of 02 months. During this period they are imparted bed side knowledge of pre and post op patient care and hands on training of basic surgical procedures under guidance eg suturing, incision and drainage, wound management and dressings. They are also trained to perform basic surgical procedures under strict asepsis in operation theatres as per latest CBME guidelines.
